Zoho and the alternatives
Zoho is an Indian software company with a large suite of cloud apps. Businesses often use Zoho Books for accounting, Zoho Inventory for stock and orders, Zoho CRM for sales, or Zoho One, which bundles many of these apps under one subscription.
The suite is affordable, easy to start with and well integrated across Zoho apps. Businesses usually look for an alternative when manufacturing becomes the core of operations: multi-stage production, job work, process loss, quality checks and plant-level costing need more depth than a general inventory app is designed for.
Where Zoho is a good fit
- Trading, retail and e-commerce: buying, stocking and selling finished goods.
- Service businesses that mainly need CRM, invoicing, projects and accounting.
- Simple assembly: kits or bundles made from a few components in one step.
- Teams that want many apps (mail, CRM, HR, books) from one vendor at a low per-user cost.
- Businesses comfortable configuring tools themselves or with a Zoho partner.
In these situations Zoho is often a sensible and economical choice.
When a manufacturing ERP like DotOne fits better
- Production runs in several stages with work in progress, routings and machine or line planning, see production planning.
- Material goes out to job workers and you need vendor-wise stock and allowed process loss, see job work software.
- You need multi-level BOMs, scrap and by-products, and actual versus standard costing per order.
- Quality checks at inward, in-process and final stages must hold or release stock.
- You make products in sector-specific units, such as plywood, tape, laminates or footwear, and want them pre-configured.
- You want one database for sales, stores, production, dispatch and accounts instead of linking several apps.
How they differ in practice
Design focus
Zoho is a broad suite of business apps for many industries. DotOne is an ERP built around Indian manufacturing and distribution.
Production depth
Zoho Inventory covers stock, orders and simple assemblies. DotOne covers multi-stage production, job work, quality, scrap and plant costing.
Setup
Zoho is largely self-serve or partner-configured. DotOne is configured for your industry and implemented by the product team.
Accounting
Zoho Books is a full accounting app. DotOne includes GST accounting and also integrates with Tally if you prefer to keep it.
Using Zoho and DotOne together
You do not have to replace everything. Some businesses keep Zoho CRM or Zoho Mail and move operations, from order to production to dispatch, into DotOne. Customers, orders and invoices can be synced through APIs; see our ERP integration services.
Migrating from Zoho to DotOne
Items, customers, vendors, price lists, open orders and opening stock and balances can be exported from Zoho and mapped into DotOne. BOMs and routings are set up during implementation with your production team.
We plan a cut-off date, a short parallel run and training by department, as described on our implementation services page.
Where DotOne fits
DotOne is built for Indian manufacturers and distributors that want production, stores, quality, dispatch and accounts in one system, configured for their industry. It includes CRM, a mobile app and AI agents.
If you trade or provide services and Zoho covers your needs, it is a strong choice. If manufacturing is the heart of your business and Zoho no longer keeps up, evaluate DotOne with a demo of your own process.
